Surgical Stent

The surgical stent is designed to help guide the surgeon in accurately positioning the implant in the proper location, depth, and orientation. It provides a physical template or guide during the surgical process to ensure precise implant placement and to maintain proper spacing and alignment with adjacent teeth or structures. It’s usually made out of clear acrylic and fit over the existing teeth or pink gum tissue.

Indications

1. Guided dental implant surgery for precise implant positioning, angulation and depth

4. Esthetic zone implant surgery

5. Cases with limited access or anatomical risk (close to nerve, sinus)

Material Composition

1. Mainly autopolymerizing acrylic resin (self-curing methyl methacrylate, MMA)

2. Or light-curing dental resin for CAD/CAM surgical guides

Preparation Tips

1. Take accurate dental impressions or CBCT scan

2. Plan ideal implant position, angulation and depth

3. Transfer prosthetic design to the surgical guide

4. Verify stent fit, stability and clearance intraorally

5. Disinfect or sterilize before surgery

6. Instruct the surgical team on correct use

High rigidity, high flexural strength (~80 MPa), excellent stability and fracture resistance.
