Plate Appliance

The plate appliance typically consists of a flat or slightly curved plate made of acrylic that is custom fitted to the patient’s palate or other areas of the oral cavity.

Orthodontic plate appliances have several functions. They can be used to:

1. Guide tooth movement: By applying gentle forces to specific teeth, they assist in aligning them.

2. Correct jaw relationships: Especially in cases where there are skeletal issues.

3. Hold teeth in a desired position during treatment.

4. Aid in the correction of certain bite problems.
